Goodbye John Laws

Well, today was the last day of the John Laws show. Now I started off listening to John when Abetha was born as our portable stereo is in our room ready for soft classical tunes to sooth our daughter at night if required. I turned to Dons 1980 Ghetto Blaster that has been sitting on our kitchen bench having no helpfull role until then apart from holding my hat (on the arial) and collecting dust. I think Don is quite attached to it and it has a record player (which requires a needle) but it had not been touched since we moved. Kind of like an ornamental candle you buy but dont use, it just sits there creating dust until one day in a heat wave the wick melts into it leaving it useless and out of shape but you still keep it in case of an emergency as it cost you a lot. But getting back to the topic at hand.

FM did not work and AM the only radio station was the local one which broadcasts JL Show. You can imagine my suprise having never heard the man before when he told someone they were an idiot or was it Moron. Love him or hate him, he sure entertained me and I am sad he is no longer on the radio as every weekday morning at 9am I switched him on, for some reason I seem to get motivated more easily too.

Now I have no right to miss him as I only listened to him for 2 months. What broke my heart is all the listeners who have tuned in for years - 45 years one person said. What a hole it would leave in your life. I mean I found him comforting as Im sure most of his listeners did, I did not agree with him sometimes , sometimes a lot! but he let everyone have their own opinion and loudly told everyone his. Now what are they going to listen to when for so long they could rely on that voice in the morning to cheer them up, take their mind off their own troubles or for people who live alone feel like they have someone to talk to/debate with/curse or agree with when no one else is there to discuss anything.

I was actually coming on my blog to fix it up a little, well enough to be able to give out the address. I know no one will be reading this, but it has been on my mind and I just wanted to say that about JL. As for 9am monday morning - I'll let you know.

Did I just create a blog??

Well I hope I work everything out right for this blog to work.

I am not that up to date with all things technical as you can see.

I just want to create a place of my own where I can put up pictures of my family and any creations I may make.

Next project: Create something........

Well, a bit about myself. My name is Sally and I live with my partner Don, our precious daughter Abetha whom is 11 weeks old and our dog Buddy who loves chasing balls.

We live in Queensland and have relocated further north just a couple of months before Abey was born, I am used to roaming (by myself) , but now it looks like we are staying put for quite a while with Don working and me staying at home with Abetha.

I am not an artistic person, but envy those who are. It does not stop me from trying, and believe me I will try most things.

I have a unfinished scarf for Don in the hallway cupboard amongst the winter blankets.

I have a corner of the lounge room for my singer which is surrounded by attempts at nappies, nappy covers and a sling, not to mention the material which is "too nice to cut up" for me only to destroy it with one of my "ideas".

Therefore it is displayed neatly on the table for me to admire whilst I practice on Dons old clothing in preparation for the day I spread it on the floor ready to be placed under the needle.

Now as if I do not have enough things to not do, a couple of weeks ago my sister has shown me how to scrapbook........ I now have a box full of colourful papers, shiny bits and bobs, photos and glue basically sitting on top of the cook book which I had started to put together easy meals. See what I mean?

Thats when I have time, I have only been able to do this blog because Don has been away for 2 days and only I have to look at the mess that is my home at the moment.
